Mortuary Services

Mortuary Services was established in the mid-90’s by Dorian Harries in order to provide a specialist hygienic treatment and post-trauma facial reconstruction service to Funeral Directors within the South West Wales area.

Dorian has been involved in his family’s Funeral business all his life and is fully aware of the impact that a bereavement has on a family which is why he established Mortuary Services so that loved ones could be given an opportunity to view their deceased to assist the grieving process. Historically, undertakers didn’t have access to the specialist embalming services that are now widely used, which is why it became easier for families to be discouraged from viewing their deceased loved one by the Funeral Director to avoid the potential visual trauma that they could experience.

Dorian is a highly qualified Embalmer and widely respected for his contribution to the Funeral and Embalming industry to date, this has led to him providing his service to a range of Funeral Directors across South West Wales.

Profile of Dorian Harries

Dorian’s education and training in this specialist work began with the Midland School of Embalming under the expert guidance of Chris Hanson-Brown at Cardiff, Wales. This soon led to Dorian gaining his qualifications and being accepted into the British Institute of Embalmers.

Very soon after, Dorian continued to enhance his specialist knowledge and skills by travelling to the Fountain National Academy located in Springfield, Missouri, USA. This is where Dorian met with Mr Vernie R. Fountain, a Licensed Embalmer, post mortem reconstructive specialist and CFSP (Certified Funeral Service Practitioner), Founder and main Instructor of the Fountain National Academy who conducted a series of wide ranging seminars and practical workshops on facial trauma reconstruction to include an ‘Advanced II Post Mortem Reconstructive Surgery Seminar’. These courses have enabled Dorian to further enhance his specialist skills especially in the field of facial reconstruction.

Dorian is a past Chairman, past secretary and still is an active member of the Welsh Division of The British Institute of Embalmers. He is also a Member of the European Association of Embalmers and American Association of Embalmers and is currently a team member with ‘Blake Emergency Services’ based in England and also provides lectures to various other organisations on all aspects of his work.
